general tendency is for naval and military
Clerical salaries to begin at a higher initial
rate, but the Junior Clerical Service rates
soon overtake them in the middle stages; and
of course prospects and the existence of a pension
scheme are factors of tremendous importance in
favour of the Junior Clerical conditions of service
and quite offset any advantages of the naval,
military or commercial schemes in the initial
stages.
